Ruth joined the Hartford Symphony Orchestra as Development Director in December of 2014, having previously served as Development Director for the ACLU of CT.
She moved to Connecticut following a successful and established career as a New York matrimonial lawyer, lecturer and legal author.
Ruth’s passionate devotion to the arts is lifelong. In New York, she created a scholarship fund to encourage students to continue music studies in college. Ruth worked with the Classical Theater of Harlem to help structure the organization’s path to financial sustainability. She was the lead solicitor for the company’s first major National Endowment for the Arts grant – one of only two theaters nationwide to receive the prestigious Outstanding New American Play Award.
As a performing arts photographer, many of her theatre photos were published in the New York Times, Broadway World and elsewhere. Despite her many interests, music remains her first love. For over thirty years, Ruth has been the piano accompanist for Suzuki Strings of Long Island and is also one of the Suzuki accompanists at the Hartt School Community Division. Ruth fervently believes in the power of music to transform audiences and build vibrant communities.
