Artist Opportunities
Our 2025 Calls for Participation are live! Applications for our Call for Scores, Music Marathon, and Scholarly Symposium are due by 11:59pm ET on Sunday, September 8th, 2024. Applications for our Composition Workshop are due by 11:59pm ET on Sunday, September 29th, 2024.
We are excited to welcome the Excelsis Percussion as our 2025 Ensemble-in-Residence and Leah Reid as our 2025 Composer-in-Residence! Our 2025 Festival will take place on Friday & Saturday, February 28th and March 1st, 2025 at Central Connecticut State University.
The instrumentation for our International Call for Scores is Percussion Quartet, and scores must use four percussionists to be eligible. Additionally, composers should not ask for two or more of the same instrument (e.g. a score should not require two drumsets, or two marimbas, etc.), but the selection committee is open to the inclusion of any of the instruments on this Wikipedia list and sound/visual electronic elements. Works must be between 3 and 10 minutes in length.
2025 Festival: Application Process & Deadlines
- Begin by fully completing the Application Document. The links below will create copies of Google Docs, which you can complete online or download for Microsoft Word.
- Submit that document (as a Word document or Google Doc) through the Submission Form.
Please Note: A recent update to Google Forms and Google Docs now seems to require users to have a Google account. If you are unable to access the form, please email us at womencomposersfestivalhartford@gmail.com and we’ll provide an alternative solution.
- Call for Scores, Music Marathon, and Scholarly Symposium application documents and submission forms are due on Sunday, September 8th, 2024, and results will be sent out by Sunday, December 1st, 2024. Late applications for the Music Marathon and Scholarly Symposium may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
- Composition Workshop application documents and submission forms are due on Sunday, September 29th, 2024, and results will be sent out by Sunday, October 13th, 2024.

Composer-in-Residence and Ensemble-in-Residence Applications (Year-Round)
- Composer-in-Residence and Ensemble-in-Residence applications are accepted year-round but must be received by January 1st to be considered for the following three years.
