2023 Festival

Our 2023 Festival was held on Friday & Saturday, March 17th and 18th at Trinity College’s Gruss Music Center in Hartford, Connecticut.

2023 Feature Concert

Chartreuse, 2023 Ensemble-in-Residence, performs five pieces during the 2023 Feature Concert. Score Call Winners included Ulterior Motives by Dorothy Hindman, Breath II by Geli Li, and Lines for Strings by Sofía Scheps Barreira. Other works included Quorum Sensing II by Bergrún Snæbjörnsdóttir and the newly-commissioned work, If I Go, by 2023 Composer-in-Residence Maria Kaoutzani.

2023 Composition Workshop Readings

Chartreuse, 2023 Ensemble-and-Residence, and Dr. Jessica Rudman, Composition Workshop Mentor, publicly discussed and workshopped Heart Trio by Mary Denney, Lasting Impressions by Candace Bustard, Lighthouse Visions by Naoko Tsujita, and Covert Silences by Yunmeng Su, then read through and recorded the four works.

Festival events included a Music MarathonScholarly SymposiumEmerging Composers Workshop, and the culminating Feature Concert with Ensemble-in-Residence Chartreuse (Myra Hinrichs, violin; Carrie Frey, viola; Helen Newby, cello), Composer-in-Residence Maria Kaoutzani, and the winners of our international Call for Scores (Geli Li and Sofia Scheps).
