2019 Student Workshop Application Now Open!

We are now accepting applications for the 2019 Student Workshop!  Participants will write a new, short piece for for flute, clarinet, violin, cello, and piano that will be read and workshopped on Friday, March 29 at 7-8:30 pm by the Nouveau Classical Project.  They also will attend two other in-person sessions with workshop mentor, Jessica Rudman, and receive online mentoring.

This opportunity is open to any composers (currently enrolled or not) without a terminal degree in composition who identify as women/femmes/non-binary. More details and the application form are available online here.  Applications are due by Oct. 9.

Apply to be our Composer-in-Residence or Featured Performer(s)!

Each year, The Women Composers Festival of Hartford features one or more invited composers and ensembles or soloists.  We typically receive a large number of inquiries about how one can be considered for these positions, so we are happy to announce the creation of a formal application process.

If you’d like to be considered as a potential Composer-in-Residence or Featured Performer(s) for 2018 or beyond, application forms are now available on our Calls page.  Applications must be received by 5/15/17 to be considered for the 2018 Festival.

Our annual calls for participation will be announced in the summer, so check back for additional opportunities for composers, performers, and scholars!

Music Marathon: Be careful of the parade!

The Hartford St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be held this Saturday at 11 am, and the parade route is very close to both the Hilton Hotel and Charter Oak Cultural Center, where our marathon will be held.  Please be advised and plan your travel times accordingly!  There will be foot crowds along the parade route (including Capitol Ave. and Main St.), and some roads will be closed to car traffic starting at 9:30 am.  Details can be found here.
